Drawing inspiration from master cabinetmaker Martin Carlin (1730–1785), the M.C coffee table offers a contemporary take on his use of Japanese lacquer. The elegance of its overall kidney-shaped form is highlighted by lacquered Japanese paper or lacquered wood applied to both the top and legs, creating a sculptural presence that gently contrasts with the gouged oak feet.
